The Security Index Project

About the Project

“The Women’s Security Index” offers a redefinition of the term “security.” While in Israel this term carries mostly military connotations, “The Women’s Security Index” aims at expanding it to other areas such as financial security, health, domestic violence, and sexual violence.

The project focuses on two areas – research and policy promotion. The goal of the research is to examine the level of security of women from different social groups within Israel, encompassing a variety of fields – gender, economy, society, politics, sexuality, and more. Based on the findings of this study, we are working towards policy change in order to address the real needs and security of women living in Israel, with an emphasis on women from underprivileged populations.

“The Women’s Security Index” is a joint project of six feminist organizations: Isha L’Isha – Haifa Feminist Center, Women Against Violence, Kayan – a feminist organization, Aswat – Palestinian Gay Women, Coalition of Women for Peace, and New Profile – Movement for the Demilitarization of Israeli Society.
